Performance Car Course

The Go For It Performance Car Course provides driving tuition based on a combination of road and race craft techniques to discerning drivers of high performance cars.

If you want to gain maximum enjoyment from your performance car we can help you to achieve this by gently coaching you to drive in a safe and thoughtful manner which is both economical, and where appropriate, swift.

Although the course relates very closely to the elements of Roadcraft – the police drivers manual – there are no rigid principles and the gentle blend of road and race circuit techniques result in an unique style of easy driving that will encourage you to enjoy your chosen performance car each and every time you drive it.

Your instructor is an ex-police Grade 1 advanced and specialist driving instructor who is also fully qualified in race craft techniques and several other specialist areas. With 15 years experience as a SKID CAR instructor and a similar period as a specialist 4x4 instructor you can be assured that you will be in very capable hands.

We offer three courses of varying durations each designed to ensure that you gain the maximum amount of enjoyment appropriate to your level of expertise.

Each course centres on the drivers’ ability to –

r   Observe accurately

r   Formulate and apply driving plans

r   Identify and prioritise hazards

r   Combine accurate and smooth acceleration and steering

r   Projected and progressive braking techniques combined with car balance

r   Read corners and bends

By combining these skills and developing them into a fine technique the result is a far wider appreciation of everything that is connected to the skill of driving.

Each of our courses commence with a briefing lasting up to an hour where the principles of the days coaching are laid out in easy to follow sound bites, this is done over coffee before we commence a 45 minute drive during which your skills are assessed.

BRONZE COURSE

This 3 hour course is structured as a taste of what you can expect on the more intensive SILVER and GOLD courses. Following your briefing over coffee and a 45 minute assessment drive you will receive a 15 minute de-brief where any bad habits and driving faults will be identified and prioritised for attention during the 1.5 hour instructional drive that follows.

At this level the level of instruction is restricted to mild coaching, concentrating on the skill levels that need to be addressed before any further training can take place.

At the end of your 3 hour ‘taster’ session you will be given a full de-brief outlining the more important aspects of your driving that may need improving. The cost for this session is £110.

SILVER COURSE

This is a 4.5 hour intermediate course where the level of instruction is set at a slightly higher pace. Again, following a briefing over coffee, your driving will be assessed during a 45 minute session on a variety of local routes. A de-brief will then outline the areas that need most attention before quite a

vigorous 3 hour instructional session begins. The instruction will set you on the route towards advanced driving and will give you a good groundbase from where you can develop your skills for either Institute of Advanced Motorists or RoSPA Advanced driving tests. Even if you have no desire to take an advanced test (remember they can lead to insurance discounts that far outweigh the cost of training and the test) this course will set you in harmony with your cherished performance car allowing you to enjoy driving at a level you didn’t before realise you were capable of.

As with all our courses, the SILVER COURSE end with a full de-brief with helpful advice for your future motoring enjoyment. The cost of this mini-course is £195.

GOLD COURSE

Our top course gives you everything the BORNZE and SILVER courses offer you but with some added zest. As with our other training, your day begins with a friendly chat over coffee where the content for the day is explained in detail.

Following a 45 minute assessment drive during which any driving faults will be identified we will then spend an hour on the incredible SKID CAR. This is the ultimate experience where you will be taught how different vehicle react to understeer or oversteer and how to deal with ice, water and various other types of skid. This is all done in complete safety on our SKID CAR training ground where the emphasis is on skid avoidance so you can learn how to protect your valuable performance car in all weather conditions.

Following a de-brief we have lunch (provided by ourselves) and then commence a 4 hour instructional drive over all available roads where you can choose a preference for the category of road you feel you would like to concentrate on.

As a general rule, the instruction would cover town and village routes, A and B class roads, dual-carriageways and motorways.

We will take several short breaks during the afternoon session and have mini de-briefs at each opportunity.

At the end of the day you will have gained a considerable knowledge base from where you can develop your driving skills, you should have absolutely no doubt as to your level of ability should you take your performance car on a track day – or just on holiday.

This is a 7 hour day and the total cost for the whole experience is £325.

Those who have attended our GOLD COURSE are eligible to contact us at any time after completing the course to arrange mini top-up sessions or refresher training – especially useful when buying a new car.
