To become a Driving Instructor you need to train and qualify. You must:

Hold a full UK or European unrestricted car driving license and have held it for a total of at least four out of the past six years.

Not have been disqualified from driving at any time in the four years prior to being registered as a Driving Instructor.

Be a fit and proper person to have your name registered as a Driving Instructor. All convictions including motor offenses still in force will be taken into account when assessing your suitability to be a Driving Instructor.

Pass the qualifying exams and register within 12 months.

In addition you should be able to read a number plate at 27.5mtrs (90feet)

Exams have to be passed before you can register as a Driving Instructor.

Part One; A theory test

Party Two; A practical driving test lasting one hour for which you must demonstrate a higher than average ability to drive.

Part Three; An instructional test consisting of two, half hour lessons at different standards with pupils.


The course is conducted in Pembrokeshire tailored to your needs and accommodation can be organized for an additional cost.

The course is in three parts and all material relevant for the Part One theory test is sent to you on receipt of your deposit. Help is given at any stage with one to one in house training sessions.



The second phase is the Driving Test and it is suggested that you do not commence this phase until you have completed Part One.

The driving test is a higher than normal test of your ability and training will involve one to one instruction with Steve and will help with preparing for part three, the instructional test.

The final phase again should be started on completion of Part Two. The most demanding of the three tests and will normally involve five or more days of training.

The course fee is £1500 which includes payment for all training materials and one attempt at each of the three tests.
The payments are due in three equal installments and no refund is given, the benefit of this method, if you fail to complete the course you only pay for what you have passed.
